It's a sarcastic joke about the quality of hornby's tissue paper.

I have 3 cats, and a couple of evenings ago I "tested" my son's Christmas present (Flying Scotsman set) on the lounge carpet in front of them. 2 were on the settee when I started it up, and their expressions and body language were an absolute picture. They thought it was some sort of mechanical snake or something as it hissed round in circles in front of them! I was in fits as they sat there, frozen and wide-eyed, staring at it.
I left it to warm-up and run-in while I went to get something from the kitchen, and as soon as my back was turned we experienced a derailment - probably caused by a curious paw!
Then the 3rd cat appeared from upstairs. He's the biggest of the 3 and the others don't mess with him at all. After a while he crept closer and then started to slowly stalk the back of the train as it went away from him.
Unfortunately, even having been staring at it for ages, he still hadn't quite worked out that with a rake of 5 coaches, while one end of the train was retreating, the other end was approaching him at the same speed.
Suddenly the penny dropped, he leapt high in the air and legged-it! I was literally crying with laughter.
Honestly, get a cat - they're hilarious.

BCingU,
En. ;-)
